ONEE - Branche Eau raises awareness among youth about the harmful effects of plastic waste

In partnership with the Hassan II International Center for Environmental Training, part of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, the Office National de l'Electricité et de l'Eau Potable (ONEE) - Branche Eau of Morrocco carried out, as part of the campaign ''Bharblaplastic'', awareness-raising activities on the importance of environmental protection for the benefit of young schoolchildren in the eco-schools program, young reporters for the environment and students belonging to the network of green universities as well as.

This awareness campaign, which is part of the operation « Homme Océan » launched by the Foundation Mohammed VI for the Protection of the Environment was an opportunity for the Office to raise awareness among young people, the need to preserve water and protect the marine ecosystem against the adverse effects of plastic waste, at 6 beaches in the Kingdom during the period June-July 2021.

In this context, the Communication and Cooperation Department, in collaboration with the central laboratory and the communication managers of the regional departments concerned, implemented several actions, including:

- Thematic workshops on the protection of marine environments;
- An exhibition under the theme "water to the trace" at the beach Marina de Salé;
- Miniature water treatment pilots and rapid field analysis to introduce young participants to the water quality control profession;
- Distribution of educational pamphlets, caps and T-shirts to summer visitors.

The various awareness-raising actions implemented as part of this operation « Homme Océan » were crowned by the awarding of trophies by the Al Marjane Association of diving and water sports to various partners, including the ONEE- Branche Eau.
