AFRICA WATER WEEK : The 4th edition will be held in May in Cairo
The African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) is organizing from May 14th to 18th, the 4th Africa Water Week (AWW-4) in Cairo, Egypt.

The theme of this edition is “Water for Growth in Africa, AMCOW’s Journey @10”. During this Africa Water Week, the discussions will focus on the nexus between water and growth and development in Africa and how the continent has exploited the water resources so as to improve the growth of African economies. This AWW-4 edition will also be an opportunity for the AMCOW to make an assessment with African Union mandate and to provide political leadership, policy direction and advocacy in the provision, use and management of water resources for sustainable socio-economic development and maintenance of ecosystems in Africa.

The holding of this AWW-4 will also mark the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the creation of AMCOW.

It is worth reminding that the Africa Water Week was set up in May 2007 as a means of building momentum across the continent to accelerate progress towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The former editions took place in Tunisia (2008), South Africa (2009) and in Ethiopia (2010).
