A friendly encounter among members of the Association of Water and Environment Professional Women of Cameroon (AFPEEC) took place in Douala, on Friday, March 23, 2018, at the CAMWATER Club House, at the closing of the national water week. Around a hearty breakfast, they exchanged on the theme of the 25th edition of the World Water Day (WWD), "Nature for Water".

The water resource is today threatened by many factors (climate change, degradation of soil and vegetation, pollution, etc.). The 2018 WWD edition is a call to preserve the water resource by using nature as a solution to meet the current and future challenges of access to water and sanitation and the preservation of natural resources, in these times of climate change and environmental degradation.

So how do you use nature to protect the water resource? The question is challenging and the women of the AFPEEC are concerned by this problem.

During their meeting, they discussed possible solutions and discussed the orientations to be given to their 2018 action plan which will focus on sanitation and water. They also discussed the future of the company, hoping for a greater representation of women in decision-making organs in the organization of the new structure.

The role of AFPEEC is to raise the voice of women in the water and sanitation sector to the highest level. This objective cannot be achieved without the pooling of all synergies and the participation and commitment of women in the sector. The President, Geraldine Mpouma Logmo launched a call for mobilization to all the women, because, united, they are a force of advocacy and action. She also took the opportunity to invite members to attend the Ordinary and Extraordinary General Meetings scheduled for April 2018.
