Mr. KOUASSI-AKON Georges, administrator of the ECOBANK account, paid a visit to AfWA’s premises on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, for a contact meeting with AfWA’s Executive Director. This meeting is a follow-up to a first contact between AfWA and ECOBANK which took place in Dakar during the conference on innovating financing in Central and Western Africa, where Mr. Sylvain Usher, Executive Director of the African Water Association mentioned the will for partnership between his organization and the ECOBANK banking group.

During the working session with Mr. Kouassi-Akon, Mr. Sylvain Usher made a presentation of AfWA and its various programs currently implemented, in particular, Africap, Rasop, Afrialliance, and especially the program on Non-Revenue Water, which is a very important issue to help the water utilities to reduce the volume of Non-Revenue Water.

The representative of ECOBANK group said his happiness to understand AfWA’s mode of operation, and promised to echo it well to the bank officials in charge of these related issues.

The two parties expressed their will to see this meeting as the first milestone of a future, lasting and fruitful collaboration, for a win-win investment in the Water and Sanitation related sector.

Thereafter, Dr. LALLA ASMA EL KASMI, Communication and co-operation Manager of the ONEE Morocco Water branch presented the Moroccan experience as regards the promotion of woman within the professional environment.

All these contributions found an echo in the intervention of Mrs DUDUZILE Mieni, a former AfWA President who, while being pleased with the consideration of the place of woman in the water and sanitation related sectors, suggested that a permanent position is given to women within the Executive Board.
